THE WIFI SERVICE AND THE INCREASING NUMBER OF HEART DISEASE PATIENT!

by - Hesmel Faznee Faisal

Salam, to fellow bloggers and readers of this self proclaimed blog!

Of late most of the blogs that I visited to, both the pro Government and the Opposition ones are keen to publish or write their personal analysis and opinion on the recent video exposure by Datuk T (to those who have been following the news, chances are likely they will know the true identity of that character!) and have been coming up with all sorts of theories prior to the video.

Between these two groups, they did raise some doubt on the authenticity of it, while the rest are likely to believe that the person captured on the video is the Opposition leader.

As a blogger who likes to write on trivial matters (It’s a sarcasm remark, mind you!), I am not keen to ponder myself thinking about the video or exert my creative thinking (as if I have one, Jose!) writing on it.

As always, I would leave it to the other BN pro-bloggers, namely papagomo, kickdefella, another brick in the wall (an interesting analysis has been made on the Dato' T issue, Jose!) bigdotdcom, outsyedthebox and the like to dwell with it. I wouldn’t want to provide even an inch in my blog with sensationalized news as I believed that we already have a lot of it in other blogs as well.

One thing, which I would like to share with is the fact that our so called Generation Y (refers to those who are born during the 80’s or 90’s onwards) enjoy eating food that are unhealthy and low in nutrition.

The main factor that contributes to this scenario is the vast number of fast food chain of restaurants, modernized kopitiam shops and the mamak eatery  offering free wi-fi or broadband services.

Most of them, who have make those places as their favorite haunt are either schoolchildren or college students as it gave them easy access to the world without boundary i.e the internet.

As they happily browsing the internet and spend unnecessary time chatting with friends (it is really unnecessary for college students to stay up all night long!) from night to dawn, they tend to order hordes of drinks and foods, unaware of the number of calories or cholesterol built from the huge consumption throughout that night!

It is no surprise to see a number of youngsters nowadays with big tummy and looked rather unhealthy or fit, thanks to the fast food restaurant and the mamak and kopitiam restaurant!

The restaurateur, as part of a marketing strategy to boon their businesses provide these extra service to drawn customers and it is obvious they can’t solely be blamed for it. They have studied the current trend; where apart from eating, patrons often go to such places due to the internet service or to watch live football matches.

I believe this quandary can be solved once the Government has managed to provide full coverage of free Wifi services all over Malaysia.

Then again, another problem might arise from this. With the advance of the technology any Tom, Dick and Harry can have full access to any websites (I’m referring to pornography websites, alas that’s the nature of mankind, Jose!) and this can even become quite a handy job for the authorities to monitor it.

Even then the pornography website, with or without the availability of full wifi coverage service in Malaysia, can still be accessible and this has led to the chicken and egg issue; do we have to compromise to the demands of modernization or to devour such challenge?

ESCAPISM

THE DOCTOR HAS NEVER LEFT THE HOUSE..

by - Hesmel Faznee Faisal

Salam, to fellow bloggers and readers of this self “inflicted” blog!

Finally, after more than 8 years stepping down as Malaysia’s 4th Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir has officially launched his memoir, simply titled as “A Doctor in The House”.

I’m not quite sure whether to laugh or to wince upon looking at the title as it shares the same title with a British television comedy, which was based on books and a movie by Richard Gordon that tells a story about the misadventure of a group of medicals students. I think the plot of the said drama is similar to other medical dramas, namely ER, Grey’s Anatomy, House and the like.

Being a person filled with sarcasm and wits like Dr Mahathir, I can sense that the title may suggest on how he relates himself to running the country; facing both the misadventure and visually seen and unseen challenges!

Nevertheless, this memoir provides us with an insight if not all but some points for the rationale of the decisions made by Dr Mahathir.

Most of the readers are likely interested to know the true story behind the Anwar Ibrahim saga from the man himself. All I can say is that there is nothing much to say on chapter 31, 48 and 53 that touches on the Anwar Ibrahim story as most of it have been covered by pro Government bloggers and the storyline are slightly the same, where the falling of Anwar Ibrahim as the Deputy Prime Minister was a result of his own despicable act.

We cannot deny the fact that Tun Dr Mahathir, who became a Prime Minister for more than 22 years, had added various colors in our lives and shaped Malaysia into its present condition. While many of us may have discrepancies with his policies or decisions made by him, it is with his wisdom and foresight that had provided us the platform to address our dissatisfactions on all things done by him.

With the emergence of numerous social media communication tools such as facebook, twitter and blogs, Tun Dr Mahathir, whether you like it or not is seen as a catalyst who had help to catapult Malaysia into the modernization world.

On a different note, I wonder if the Opposition Leader has any intention of releasing his own memoir. Perhaps with his memoir it could help to counter back all of the allegations in regards to his neither sexual innuendos nor things that had had shaped him into what he is now. Or in other words, let's hear it from the horse's mouth!

I’m sure the Opposition Leader’s memoir would outsell Tun’s memoir, provided he writes the details relating to all of the present and previous accusations thrown at him with lurid and clear description!

I think most or some of us would agree that Malaysians are more interested on petty things rather than focusing bigger and complicated matters pertaining to our society’s welfare and condition.

TUN DR MAHATHIR

FOR WOMEN ONLY?

By - Hesmel Faznee Faisal

Salam, to fellow bloggers and readers of this “frantic” blog!

I have broken my own personal record by not updating this self proclaimed blog for more than a month!

The last time I did it was in 2010; whilst working for one of the big giant conglomerate companies in Malaysia, where I did not update my blog for 2 weeks and the result? No one bothers or cared much about it!

Back to my personal point of view of which, I would want to touch on is the disturbing “Women Only” signage that has been appearing both on trains or buses in the city.

While it is a noble act taken by the transport companies to ensure the safety of women passengers and to ensure a “sexual harassment” free environment for them, it is also quite disturbing to know that this effort could lead to more misunderstanding among us.

Before I continue further with my point of view, allow me to state my opinion here that I am not taking any political side nor is an ally with any political parties or trying to position myself both as a progressive writer and a liberal thinker. Not at all, but just a regular “wannabe” blogger who love to write and express my opinion, as and when is necessary!

I am not quite sure whether the “Women Only” public facilities has been implemented in other states under Barisan Nasional  but obviously, the initiative take by the public transportation companies here in Kuala Lumpur have in away successfully emulated the step taken by the Kelantan state government, under the PAS administration for more than 20 years.

Not that I am against with any effort in creating a more peaceful and safety well being for everyone but sometimes actions does not speak louder than words!

I wouldn’t want to imagine how the situation would be if later a politician who wish to gain a political mileage in championing the rights of the rakyat, would cleverly suggests that the gender segregation be carried out in all cinemaplex outlets, the entertainment parks, cafeterias so on so forth!

Again, I wish not to create a stir in the cup but what would happen is that the tolerance and both the mutual and virtual understanding that all of us have been enjoying all this while would only disintegrate and farther away the race gap between us.

The general masses i.e – the public must first understand the element of respect between each other and to educate them on how to behave like one. Religious and moral educations are the most important element in that and to do so the Government must also put a lot of effort in achieving the target of creating a better society here in Malaysia.

There is no point of gender segregation as women are temporarily safe onboard but once they have disembark they are likely be exposed to the same threat outside.

The issue now is not about trying to avoid them from being fondled on trains or buses but to create a comfortable environment for everyone.

As I have mentioned earlier, the most important thing is to educate each one of us the importance of being a good citizen. I doubt all of us are free from committing sins but at least we have tried our best through realizing the moral border. I always believe morality comes first after religion as sometimes immoral people tend to use the religious course for their personal interest!

That is the noblest thing to do than to put up the “Women Only” signages!

KELIRU

Walau bagaimanapun, saya keliru.

Bukan, bukan keliru memikirkan patutkah kita menyambut tahun baru, kerana ia bukan budaya kita sebaliknya keliru memikirkan status Nasi Lemak menjadi Makanan Warisan Malaysia!

SOME HALF PAST 6 MALAYSIANS

By - Hesmel Faznee

Malaysians enjoy having their meal at fast food restaurants.

The concept of fast food restaurant is that patrons order and carry their own meal.

After having their meal, they must dispose the leftover in the bin on their own.

This is the correct concept for a fast food restaurant.

Unfortunately for Malaysians, they don't bother to do so.

THE WISDOM TREE

By - Hesmel Faznee

This is I believe is the replica or an impression of how a Wisdom Tree look like.

The Buddhist believed that was where Buddha had received the vision to write the Gautama.

Nowadays, its hard to see these kind of trees exists in our society.

THE NAME TAG

By - Hesmel Faznee

It has been close to 17 years, since the last time I wore a name tag.

As part of the 1.2 million Government servant, where wearing a name tag is a compulsory for us, I have no choice but to adhere to the regulation imposed.

There is no doubt, wearing a name tag is the most uncomfortable manner for some, but as for me I don't have any problem whatsoever in doing it.

It is a matter of doing the right thing at the right time that matters most.

You ought to feel ashamed of yourself, if you were caught accepting a bribe, whilst wearing the tag.

Or in plain English, caught with your pants down!

MALAYSIAN INDIAN CONGRESS

By – Hesmel Faznee Faisal

Salam, to fellow bloggers and readers of this self proclaimed blog.

A lot of things had had happened within this couple of weeks. But the one that struck my attention most was the news on MIC President, Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu’s (no offence to the great politician but some made a reference of him as Sammy No Value when he lost the Sungai Siput parliament constituency in the previous General Election!) decision to finally stepped down from the post, whom he has been holding to for the last 31 years!

There were few political analysts who suggest that the existing caste within the MIC was one of the reasons why the former MIC President refused to vacate the post. He wants to ensure that the person who will be replacing him (and in this case, it is Datuk G. Palanivel) will able to unite party members, in order to create stability within the party rank.

Being the second oldest political party in Malaysia after UMNO (UMNO was found on May 11, 1946 whilst MIC a couple of months later), MIC has been working real hard to gain back its credibility as the most senior partner in the National Front. Though MCA (which was form much later in 1949) was given more seats to contest compared to the MIC due to the number of populations (etc), this has never trigger MIC to withdraw from the coalition. I am sure not all Malaysians (who loved history as much as I do!) are aware that MIC had once even contested against the Alliance party, during its embryonic form for the Kuala Lumpur Municipal election in 1952, when Mr K. Ramanathan was the President.

It was only when Mr. K. L. Devaser, who took over from Mr K. Ramanathan, decided that it is vital for MIC to become allies with UMNO and MCA through the Alliance Party, to achieve Independence.

And the rest is history.

Of late, a demand has been made by a certain members from parties within the National Front to request for more Ministerial post for their party, especially for the recently promoted President who is only a Deputy Minister. I am not quite sure how BN President, Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak who is also the Prime Minister, will succumb to such demand.

Rationally, this particular party had lesser seats in the Parliament (after the 12th General Election back in 2008) compared to other coalitions and in order to fulfill the demand, the Prime Minister has left with no choice, but to either give back the post of Works Minister (a post previously held by the former MIC President) to MIC. To do so, the Prime Minister must tackle and please the UMNO warlords first, who in recent years have been sensitive when it comes to issues pertaining to the Malay rights or anything like it.

MIC has other major problems as well.

They have to try and woo back both the MIC members (who had left the party and joined either the non racial based parties either under the Pakatan Rakyat or BN!) and voters, which will not be as easy as walking through a park!

It is a do or die situation for MIC if they do not want to see their popularity slowly declining. The Indians have been divided into many groups (apart from the caste system, we have seen some Indians who had threw their lot for the Opposition parties and it is not a surprise to see some of them supporting PAS!) just like the Malays who had been divided into 4 groups namely UMNO, PAS, PKR and Perkasa (though the former is not considered an official registered political party, Jose!)

The General Election I believe will not be held within a couple of months. And to have a snap election by next year is like putting the final nail to the BN’s coffin. The acid test to determine on the popularity of BN would be during the Sarawak state election, scheduled in 2011. An action plan has to be carried out should there be a drastic reduction of majority votes for BN in the election. Otherwise, BN will have to face a possibility of becoming the opposition party in the near future!

ALLAHYARHAM TAN SRI DR P RAMLEE

Jika disorot kembali, zaman kejatuhan Allahyarham mula berlaku semasa Tun Abdul Razak menjadi Perdana Menteri (sekitar tahun 1970).

Sekarang, anak Allahyarham Tun Razak, Dato' Sri Mohd Najib pula menjadi Perdana Menteri.
