DEAR INFIDELS DON'T KILL YOURSELF!
By - Hesmel Faznee Faisal
Some people said politic is an art of possibility. In politics, you may be rivals from a different clan but tomorrow your rival may ended up being your most trusted ally. That is the beauty of politics. However, from my personal opinion, arts itself is actually a politics of possibility.
We have seen a great number of artistes who have involved in politic as soon as they retired, semi retired or their stars are fading as they reached the twilight years.
I wish not to dredge the topics of politics in my writing but those points that I had mentioned earlier on was just a fragment of what I am about to say or write.
Before that, I wish to seek forgiveness from my Bacalah readers, especially to my fellow Malays for what I am about to write after this.
The Malays, will become infidels and ignorant towards others during the Aidilfitri celebration. Yes, it may sound awkward and a surprise to some Malays, especially the orthodoxies, but let me assure you that not all Malays will belong to that group. During that time, they become resorted to selfishness, self centred and would never consider other people’s feeling.
Some may ask; why I chose the word infidel to associate it with the Malays
Burning firecrackers has been a traditional culture for the Chinese and the Malays find it irresistible to emulate it. The Chinese burnt firecrackers as part of their traditional beliefs and are commonly used in the celebration of the Lunar New Year or the Spring Festival is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays by Chinese communities around the world. Firecrackers are believed to scare off evil spirits and attract the god of wealth to people's doorsteps.
Have we unconsciously indulged ourselves into those beliefs? Why parents must let children endanger their lives and encourage them to buy the firecrackers on aggrieved reason that the sound produced by the firecrackers can keep the Aidlifitri celebration alive?
The true spirit of Aidilfitri is done by conveying forgiveness to each other and to extend it by visiting friends, relatives and the like.
The noise produced by the firecrackers is annoying and may disrupted peace. Even on a certain occasion, it might even distract peace for people living around that area.
Dear parents, please reconsider about it every time you are about to give your money (Jose, some children even steal because their parents won’t allow them to buy it!) to your children to buy firecrackers.
And it is also important to note that Aidilfitri is a time for us to participate in the family gathering to greet and shake hands with each other. Then again, it would be awkward to see a member of the family shaking hands with 5 fingers instead of 10!
