THE DOCTOR HAS NEVER LEFT THE HOUSE..

by - Hesmel Faznee Faisal

Salam, to fellow bloggers and readers of this self “inflicted” blog!

Finally, after more than 8 years stepping down as Malaysia’s 4th Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir has officially launched his memoir, simply titled as “A Doctor in The House”.

I’m not quite sure whether to laugh or to wince upon looking at the title as it shares the same title with a British television comedy, which was based on books and a movie by Richard Gordon that tells a story about the misadventure of a group of medicals students. I think the plot of the said drama is similar to other medical dramas, namely ER, Grey’s Anatomy, House and the like.

Being a person filled with sarcasm and wits like Dr Mahathir, I can sense that the title may suggest on how he relates himself to running the country; facing both the misadventure and visually seen and unseen challenges!

Nevertheless, this memoir provides us with an insight if not all but some points for the rationale of the decisions made by Dr Mahathir.

Most of the readers are likely interested to know the true story behind the Anwar Ibrahim saga from the man himself. All I can say is that there is nothing much to say on chapter 31, 48 and 53 that touches on the Anwar Ibrahim story as most of it have been covered by pro Government bloggers and the storyline are slightly the same, where the falling of Anwar Ibrahim as the Deputy Prime Minister was a result of his own despicable act.

We cannot deny the fact that Tun Dr Mahathir, who became a Prime Minister for more than 22 years, had added various colors in our lives and shaped Malaysia into its present condition. While many of us may have discrepancies with his policies or decisions made by him, it is with his wisdom and foresight that had provided us the platform to address our dissatisfactions on all things done by him.

With the emergence of numerous social media communication tools such as facebook, twitter and blogs, Tun Dr Mahathir, whether you like it or not is seen as a catalyst who had help to catapult Malaysia into the modernization world.

On a different note, I wonder if the Opposition Leader has any intention of releasing his own memoir. Perhaps with his memoir it could help to counter back all of the allegations in regards to his neither sexual innuendos nor things that had had shaped him into what he is now. Or in other words, let's hear it from the horse's mouth!

I’m sure the Opposition Leader’s memoir would outsell Tun’s memoir, provided he writes the details relating to all of the present and previous accusations thrown at him with lurid and clear description!

I think most or some of us would agree that Malaysians are more interested on petty things rather than focusing bigger and complicated matters pertaining to our society’s welfare and condition.

History lives on in the heart and mind of the victim. Attempt to distort the truth will not work!
Let's hope this Memoirs will not be a documental evidence of a crying shame to the author and those who bear his nme.
